Who we are
Mostash (mostash.com) is run by Reeves and Sons Limited (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@mostash.com or at 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described on this page.
What we collect and why
When you contact us. Our contact form collects your name, email, your main priority and your message. The form emails your message to our team; entries aren’t stored on the website. We use this to reply to you and to talk about working together. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and taking steps at your request before a contract.
When you run the free AI visibility check. The form collects your brand name, website, what you sell, a competitor (optional), your email and your OK for us to email you. We send the brand, website, category and competitor to Perplexity AI to generate the answers you see; your email address is never sent to Perplexity. Your details and results are emailed to our team so we can follow up. We keep the generated results in a temporary cache on our server for 24 hours, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for 24 hours to limit free checks per visitor. Lawful basis: your consent for us to email you, and our legitimate interest in running the check and preventing abuse.
When you comment on our blog. We collect your name, email, website (optional), comment, IP address and browser details. Akismet, a service from Automattic, checks comments for spam. If you use Gravatar, a scrambled version of your email may be used to show your profile picture. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a spam-free comment section.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (through Google Site Kit) to see how people use the site: pages visited, device, approximate location and where visits come from. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving the site. You can block these cookies in your browser or install Google’s opt-out add-on.
Hosting, security and logs. Our host (Kinsta) and our network and security provider (Cloudflare) process technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Our redirect tool logs which pages were requested and where visitors came from, without IP addresses, so we can fix broken links. Those logs are deleted after 7 days.
Cookies
- _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID: Google Analytics, to tell visits apart. They last up to 2 years.
- comment_author_ cookies: set only if you comment and ask the site to remember your details. They last 1 year.
- Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie to filter out bot traffic.
- Login cookies are only used by our own team when we sign in to manage the site.
Who we share it with
We use service providers who process data on our behalf: Kinsta (hosting), Cloudflare (network and security), Google (analytics), Automattic (Akismet and Gravatar), Perplexity AI (answers for the visibility check, without your email) and our email provider. We don’t sell your personal data, and we only share it with others if the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States. When personal data leaves the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and visibility-check details: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless we start working together, in which case we keep what the contract and our legal records need.
- Visibility-check cache and rate-limit data: 24 hours.
- Blog comments: until you ask us to remove them.
- Google Analytics data: no longer than 14 months.
- Redirect and 404 logs: 7 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of this, email hello@mostash.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is for businesses and isn’t aimed at children.
